I really liked reading about your memories of Christmases past. Glad they are such happy ones. It’s great how you and your brothers learned to love D & D through your father. I like that you, your brothers and cousin made some Christmas D&D memories right here.

These all sound like lovely holiday memories. Speaking of celebrating Christmas traditionally, I recommend reading A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote. It's a lovely little story that intimately details celebrating Christmas in the South in the 1920's. Cannot recommend it enough, I think you'll like it. It kinda reminded me of what you wrote about your Waldorf School festivities.

That sounds great! I'm always curious to know how southerners make merry during Christmas without snow all year round.

While the Shepherd’s Play was shared with the community and was clearly a tradition cherished by everyone, I did not really know anything about the Advent Spiral. They kept that as a special ceremony for the students, which likely made it that much more special. Certainly that mood and feeling is not something that can be reproduced in your later years, but your memory of it remains.

It really would be nice to have some of those unplugged “medieval” moments throughout the holidays instead of always worrying about keeping entertained. I’m game to try it.

Our love of D&D certainly made for many great Christmas presents over the years, and the gaming sessions themselves were priceless. It would be awesome to recapture some of those moments.
